For a period before the Second World War it enjoyed the services of a full-time paid leader, Mr. Marcham, but when he left, the club became dependent on voluntary leaders. Its subsequent move to King George's Hall, Esher, was less successful. The identification of a suitable venue in Claygate for such a club remained a problem for some time before the former Elm Road School building was adopted. Source
