A warm thank you from Claygate Parish Council to all the volunteers who gave up their time on Saturday October 5 to take part in the community litter pick. With a great communal effort, we are keeping Claygate green and clean.
Please look out for advertisements of the next clean-up event—refreshments are provided to all volunteers.

To discuss the pink signs on the Parade which have been installed since the gum-cleaning in support of the Keep Elmbridge Tidy Campaign. |
This was discussed and the Chairman noted that a condition of having the work done was that the signs have to be in place until April 2025. He has a note in his diary to raise the matter with EBC again at that time. |

To answer any questions from members of the public. |
A question was raised on our Litter Picks and why we don’t hold them more than twice a year and also if we really needed to supply food and refreshments afterwards which incurs costs. It was explained by Cllr Holt that this is also a chance for the residents of Claygate to be involved in more of a Community Event and that the refreshments enabled people of Claygate to spend time chatting and getting to know each other and also the Councillors. |

August 2024
To confirm arrangements for the next community Litter Pick being held in October and discuss the possibility of a small prize for the largest bag of litter picked by the Scouts. | |
Cllr Moon requested a fund of up to £150 to buy three new banners on which we would be able to change the date, time and location for each new event. He suggested taking the image of the man from the Parade Sign and adding this with him holding a litter picker to add a bit of fun to the banners.

Previous Litter Picks
CLEAN-UP DAY REACHES ALL AREAS
Enough volunteers came along to cover all areas of Claygate on a very successful Clean-up Day in January. Large amounts of litter were pulled from verges, garden fences, hedges and elsewhere. The Parish Council thanks everyone enormously who turned out to help on a very cold day and Donna Holt, who chairs the council, says: “I felt a special kind of satisfaction every time a new piece of litter went into my clean-up bag and it was great driving around Claygate afterwards seeing the newly cleaned up streets.”
The next Clean-up Day is planned for May 4 from 10am-12 noon, meeting in the Hare Lane Car Park (where parking will be free for the duration of the litter pick). The collection of rubbish will be followed by a barbecue lunch with tea, coffee and juice. We hope to see you on the day!
