Resisting the imposition of widespread 20 mph limits on the roads of Claygate

To update on the LSI issue. |
Cllr Bray noted that, following the SCC/CPC zoom call some months ago, the matter had arisen at an EBC/CPC liaison meeting more recently. Dawn Crewe said EBC had not picked up, from exchanges with SCC, that a community which did not want 20mph zones would not get money from the LSI fund. CPC had supplied information to this effect, in particular SCC's statement that they had a prioritization tool to which all the relevant communities in Surrey are subjected. This tool ranked communities which did not wish to accept 20mph zones near the bottom of the list, meaning they would be most unlikely to secure LSI funding. |

To receive a report from the EH&T Committee. |
Cllr Bray and other Cllrs met with seven members of SCC about Local Street Improvement Plan (LSIP). LSIP proposes a blanket 20 mph limit across large portions of towns and villages. 70% of CtWF survey respondents in Claygate did not want this type of blanket speed enforcement. Therefore the CPC view is that LSIP will not be right for Claygate. Instead CPC will work with EBC and SCC to implement specific improvements which are wanted. |
